Ever since I found my parent's old camera in the attic, I have been interested in photography. I could not afford film, however, and so this area remained just an "interest." That is, until we got a digital camera! All the pictures you want for free, that's my kind of camera! Here are some of my favorite pictures that I took myself. Enjoy!

Here's another picture from the same batch as the one at the entrance of this site. One of my buddies from Australia called it, "a three kilometer strike to a grounded target. Outstanding!" How he knew that...? I had been researching lightining all week, more specifically how scientists artificially trigger it, and had run across some tutorals about photographing it. When a storm woke me at 3:00AM Wednesday morning, I just had to try it for myself. Unfortunately, I didn't have the tripod handy, so all the shots were steadying the camera on the windowsill. I figured they'd be blurry, but actually no. I took this picture at 100ISO simulation, no color/contrast enhancement, and the shutter set for 16 sec(max for my digital camera). As soon as the bolt hit, I covered the lens. Additional cloud flashes sometimes white-ed out the bolt. (04/19/2006)
Much more to come when I get around to it...

Who would have guessed that we wouldn't have but three photographable storms
for whole year! Talk about frustrating to new hobby! That's alright... Check
these out! They were made from my front porch. ISO setting 400, exposure 16seconds,
F stop is 5.0 on most of them. Thinking back, I should have lowered the ISO
rating, because some of them turned out a bit grainy. The distance effect
was great in most of the pictures. It is especially noticeable in the third
and fourth pictures where one bolt hit close(blue) and another struck farther
away(pink). Still farther bolts expose as orange. It is most interesting to
get a close bolt on camera and have an orange cloud flash behind it. The picture
develops as a bright bolt with a dark greenish tint. All my "green"
ones were either blurry or unimpressive to say the least, so I didn't post
them.
